Every Bride and Groom’s dream, of a perfect wedding dress, is far more the most important thing at a wedding.
There are so many gorgeous wedding dresses and suits in the market, making the decision of choosing one very difficult.
Nevertheless, we have come to educate you on; how to pick the ideal silhouette for that great day that would accentuate your unique body shape.
(Visit our article on Know your Body Shape for more information).
For Brides, there are different types of wedding gowns, which are:
- A-line gown
- Ball Gown
- Trumpet Gown
- Mermaid
A-line Gown
An A-line wedding dress is that gown that is made to be gorgeously fitted from the waist, then flowing naturally to the floor. It usually appears extremely beautiful on an apple shaped lady especially when it is sewn to have some sort of simple drape at the neckline to form a V-neckline, which draws attention away from the fuller bust to the flowy skirt underneath.
Ball Gown
If you want to undoubtedly feel like a fairy tale princess on your wedding day, then the best silhouette to go for is a ball gown silhouette with any style of neckline. This type of gowns looks very good on the rectangle and pear shaped bride, because it helps point attention to the waist region in a beautiful way; hiding the hips region in the full skirt underlay.
Trumpet Gown
This is a style of gown that features a gradually-flared skirt which reveals the narrow waist of the bride via streaming from the hips in the form of a trumpet bell. It is ideal for frames with small waists, such as the hourglass. Its not so good for pears and apples, because it accentuates not only the waist region but the hip region too.
Mermaid Gown
It is also known as a fishtail dress. A mermaid wedding gown is closely fitted in the bodice all the way down to the knee, where it dramatically flares out fully and beautifully. It is known to accentuate the bride’s narrow waist, flatter her bust and hips region, making it a suitable dress for an hour glass lady and a pear shaped bride that want to appear sexy on her wedding. However, for a pear shaped bride, she could wear a mermaid dress but ensure that there are beautifully constructed details, at the bust region of the dress to balance it with the hips. This can be achieved by a well padded illusion neckline or a sweetheart neck.
Now, for some groom’s, their wedding is really the first time they will ever wear a tuxedo. So, having lots to pick from in the store requires a proper knowledge of your body shape and height, so as to select well.
For the Tall and Thin Rectangle Shaped Groom
We recommend a well padded two-button jacket with a sleek slimline lapel and a good tailored trousers that doesn’t fit too hard and isn’t baggy.
Trapezoid Shaped Groom
Groom’s of these body shape, have usually very sloping shoulders, that the choice of suit to be considered must be sewn to accommodate that. A neat, not too padded jacket that will be flattering enough to show off the biceps and triceps, would be the best fit. The trousers must also be able accommodate the thick thighs, but not too baggy.
For the Inverted Triangle Shaped Groom
Your choice of suit should be such, whose tailoring would reveal the heavy build at your upper region, but with a slimming effect on the shoulder and the chest, so that a more in proportionate look will be achieved. A not too padded wide lapel suit with a single button placed an inch above the navel would give these slimming look. Also, Dark colours such as french navy and dark grey are flattering on this shape, just don’t feel bound to black.
For the Oval Shaped Groom
A suit that will help lengthen your look in a cute way is advised. A bold coloured blazer will do these magic, by lengthening your silhouette and giving you a slimming result. Trousers should also be well tailored to be moderate in size and fit. Browns, olives and dark reds blazers will do these magic better.
For the Triangle Shaped Groom
Knowing that you have a bulky waist section compared to your shoulder, your choice of a jacket should be such that can add bulk to your shoulders and help balance out your figure. A well cushioned suit with a sleek slimming tailoring at the waist region or a three piece suit, with a fitted waist-coat will help hide the bulging stomach in a flattering way. The colors that will suit well are more of neutral tartan colours in Ash and Grey, as they elongate the upper region without drawing much attention to the waist hips region.
